Children’s Choir ongoing
Do you have children that like to sing? We hope to starti up a choir in 2024 for children in grades 2 and up.
Rehearsals will probably be on Saturday mornings for an hour.

Children and Family Service with a Star Wars Theme!
Here is an event not to miss! Our next family service will have a fun and exciting Star Wars theme. Come dressed as your favourite Star Wars character from any episode. Or wear your favourite Star Wars apparel.
Following the service we will join together for a BBQ dinner in the parking lot. If you would like to attend, just call the church office.

National Asian Month Special Worship Service
Our parishioner, Bea Tanaka will be our guest preacher for this special service to celebrate National Asian Month.
Members of our congregation who are of Asian descent will host a light lunch.

Pentecost Sunday with Combined Service and Community Lunch
To complete the Easter celebrations, our Pentecost Service will be held with our friends from Jesus is Lord church (who share our building). The service will be followed by a combined lunch. You are invited to come and celebrate the diversity and beauty of our community.

The Big Give
God loves you, and we love you, and that’s just how it should be! Join us for a nation wide expression of God’s love for all. This giant garage sale has clothes, shoes, toys, small appliances, and breakfast of coffee, tea, juice and muffins. And it’s all free!

Trivia Night by Zoom in Support of Campus Ministry at Algonquin College
We hope you can join us for our Zoom Trivia Night (multiple choice questions!) in support of Campus Ministry at Algonquin College: Friday, April 5 at 7:00 PM. You can either organize a team of your own or join others who will be participating, all in support of the ecumenical Christian Campus Ministry that serves the students and staff at Algonquin College. Palm Sunday Bake Sale

An Evening of Dessert Under the Stars
Dave Chisholm (President of the Ottawa Chapter of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada) will speak to us about the total solar eclipse which will occur in Ottawa on April 8, 2024. Bring our favourite dessert (pie, case, cookies etc) to share. This promises to be an interesting evening.
Women's Afternoon with Martha
All women are invited to an afternoon of games, sweets and fellowship. You can enjoy a game of euchre, bridge, board games - or just sit and chat with friends. Tea, coffee and sweets will be served. No need to register, just show up in the lower hall.
2024 Annual Vestry Meeting
All parishioners are asked to do their best to attend the Annual Vestry to be held on March 3, 11:30 a.m. Your presence and participation are important as we come together to reflect on the past year, discuss important matters, and chart the course for the future of our parish. The Annual Vestry report will be emailed to those on the parish list, and is also available in the office.
LUNCH
Participants are requested to bring a brown bag lunch to enjoy before and during the meeting. Fellowship will serve coffee, tea and cookies as usual..
World Day of Prayer - At Christ Church Bells Corners

Evening online book study - The Practice of the Presence of God
Join us this Lent to explore “The Practice of the Presence of God” by Brother Lawrence via Zoom. These evening sessions will include reading and replection, followed by daily devotions, with discussion and shared insights when we meet .

Morning Eucharist, Meditation and Study
As part of our Lenten journey, all are invited to join a four week study that will provide an opportunity for Communion, Meditation, Study and a light lunch.

Pancake Supper
Come and enjoy a delicious meal of sausage, pancakes, maple syrup and more! A free-will offering will be received.
After the pancake supper you will have the opportunity to receive ashes as part of our “Ashes to Go” service. The liturgy will take place in the church from 6.00 pm to 6.30 pm and again from 7.10 pm to 7.30 pm. This will allow people to receive ashes and begin their Lenten observance even if they are unable to attend our traditional Ash Wednesday Service (which is the next day).
Black History Month - African Drumming Session and Dinner
Multi-instrumentalist Sadio Sissoko will set the tone of our month-long Black History Month celebration when he will share his enthusiastic talents on African drums and other instruments. We will then enjoy an African-Caribbean feast from Zimbabwe, Nigeria and the Caribbean. The cost is a free-will offering. For more information please contact the office. CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICE SUNDAY DECEMBER 24 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
Two Christmas Eve services: one at 4:00 p.m. and one at 8:00 p.m. If you are looking for a family service where anything can happen, I encourage you to attend the 4:00 p.m. Just imagine yourself going to a family Christmas dinner. For those who prefer contemplative worship, the 8:00 p.m. service is for you.
AN ALTERNATIVE TO CHRISTMAS EXPERIENCE
On Wednesday December 20 we will hold a Eucharist service that honours people that have lost loved ones and are experiencing grief. We will light candles, talk about what we have lost, or what experience has drawn us to the service. And also, the hope found in Jesus.
Children's (and others) Christmas Party and Service
Children/youth along with their grownups, and the young at heart, are invited to the Children’s Christmas Service and Party on Saturday, December 16, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. The event will be held in the church hall. There will be games, food and gingerbread houses to be built! The evening will conclude with prayers.

Women's retreat
Come and join the women of St. Stephen’s at a retreat to pray, reflect, enjoy winter activities and have fun. Location is Galilee House in Arnprior. The weekend will be lead by Rev. Claire Bramma, Associate Incumbent of the Parish of the Valley. Please notify the office for information. Planning is underway, so the given start and end times of the retreat are approximate.
OWECC Concert - cancelled
We regret to say that because of potentially risky driving because of the weather situation, the concert tonight is cancelled. We are very disappointed!
Member churches of the Ottawa West End Community Chaplaincy will join together at St. Stephens for a concert at : St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, Jesus is Lord, Britannia United, Christ Church Bells Corners and Bells Corners United Church. A free will offering will be taken up to support programs of the Chaplaincy. No tickets required - just come along!
White Gift Sunday
As St. Stephen’s has done in the past, we will be distributing grocery cards to those requesting help for this coming Christmas season. Donations will be received starting November 17 until December 3 through cash, cheques or e-transfer to sstreasurer@googlegroups.com. Mark your gift as “White Gift”. We will dedicate the gifts received at the service.

Service of Confirmation
The Right Rev. Dr. Shane Parker, Bishop of the Diocese of Ottawa will preach, celebrate communion, confirm and reaffirm several members of our Parish. There will also be an opportunity for us to renew our Baptismal vows. A celebration reception, (including cake) will follow.

Evening Advent Bible Study
This is an interactive bible study that will help us reflect on our changing world and parish. We will engage with scriptures and reflect on the relationship between hospitality, worship and Christian life. Is hospitality a significant Christian practice? We will share stories about hospitality as a way to keep the practice alive. The coming of Christ into the world from his birth, childhood, adulthood until his death made others do their best to practice their hospitality. Indeed, some were tested severely on how to welcome Jesus.

Day Time Advent Bible Study
We will hold a day time Advent Bible Study every Wednesday from 22 Nov to 13 Dec.
Our exciting Bible Advent study will begin on November 22 immediately following the 10:30 a.m. Wednesday Eucharist. This is an interactive bible study that will help us reflect on our changing world and parish. We will engage with scriptures and reflect on the relationship between hospitality, worship and Christian life. Is hospitality a significant Christian practice?

Organ Concert with Matthew Larkin
Matthew Larkin will perform an organ recital featuring the music of Bach, Vierne, Rachel Laurin and Robert Fleming . A reception will follow. Veterans' Remembrance Day Service
Lieutenant-Colonel Mike Gibbons will be our preacher and celebrant this Sunday. Padre Mike is serving in the military on a secondment from the Anglican Church. We will honour our military and veterans through prayers, a minute of silence, song and full celebration with a piper, bagpipes and everyone will get a chance to lay a poppy on the wreath. Also, we will pray for peach in war torn regions especially for Palestine and Israel.

Fall Food Fair
